One of the biggest problems with maintaining a gluten-free diet is the lack of healthy, gluten-free options when you’re looking for a “carby” fix. The breads fall apart or are tasteless; the cookies resemble a hockey puck more than a delicious baked good; and most of the time, you’re still getting a whopping dose of carbs and sugars that will make your blood sugar soar.
And then, Guiltless Foods happened. Husband and wife team, Daniel and Lindsey started Guiltless in 2010 with the desire to feed their family and the world yummy, healthy foods! I was approached by Daniel, the owner, to try his line of goods made with a unique blend of seeds. I was skeptical at first. A tasty, gluten-free option that is packed with nutrition is like a unicorn in the health food world: elusive, mythical and never seen. To my surprise, the products were delicious with the added bonus of being packed with fiber, protein, fats and vitamins! They are even suitable for the paleo community because their flour blend is grain-free.
The first Guiltless Foods product was the pizza crust. Daniel and Lindsay were inspired to help their client who loved pizza but had Crohn’s Disease and Diabetes eat his favorite food again without health consequences. Lindsey knew in her soul that she could help this man and millions of Americans enjoy their favorite comfort foods without pain or suffering! Once the pizza crust was perfected, it was time to work on making a loaf of bread. (Make french toast out of the Cinnamon Raisin bread – I promise you will not be disappointed!) Everything else started rolling out: muffins, cookies and tortillas quickly became customer favorites.
Since their beginnings in 2010, Daniel and Lindsey have gained quite the following with their custom blend of seeds including sesame, hemp, pumpkin, poppy, chia, sunflower and flax seeds. Our delis (located at our South, Central and Westlake) have added the option to upgrade your sandwich bread to Guiltless Foods bread.
