Edible Wild Plant Walk

04/19/2014 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

$30

Would you love to learn how to feed yourself and your family with food that is nutrient-rich, delicious, and free? Edible wild plants are all around us, and made for our enjoyment and nourishment, if only we know what they are and how to use them.

Experience the peaceful, joyful meditation of acquiring your food while walking on the earth, the wind delighting your skin and the sun warming your body, fresh air filling your lungs, harvesting living plants that are so much fresher than anything from the grocery store. Reconnect with your origins as a natural being, and explore mother nature’s wondrous bounty. Truly know where your food comes from! Click on the Meet Up page to register and for full details.

Class Agenda:

We will take a plant walk all over the land to gather the specific wild edibles of spring in the Texas Hill Country. You will learn about them and be able to taste them as we go!

Our walk will be held at the Slaughter Creek Nature Preserve in South Austin.  There is a trail entrance on the southwest corner of the James Bowie High School parking lot;  please park along that side, and we will meet at the trail head!

You will receive recipes and ideas for feeding yourself and your family from the land. Class investment is $30 per person. We are also open to partial or full barters (contact us for details). Children are welcome to attend at a discounted cost of $7 per child (4 and under at no cost).

What to bring:

Wear comfortable walking shoes or boots. Bring a camera if you’d like to photo the edibles we discover!
