If you’re like me, when you plan a trip to Peoples Rx, you have the intention of just getting the items on your list. Then when you get there, you browse the amazing, all-natural body care items, quality supplements and yummy snacks. I’ve had the great pleasure of trying hundreds of items at Peoples and here are some of my favorites I know people are sleeping on. If you haven’t tried these, here’s the message from the universe that you should!
A soak in Dr. Singh’s mustard bath is one of the best bath experiences you can have, especially if you aren’t feeling well. If you’re feeling run down or under the weather, then this is the bath you need to assist your body to gently detox and feel soothed. When my family members feel miserable fighting a cold or sinus issues, I draw them a hot bath with 2 scoops of the powder. The bath will have a wonderful invigorating smell of eucalyptus, wintergreen, rosemary, and thyme and will be a light-yellow color. My 5-year-old likes this bath so much she demanded I always keep stock of it in our house, so we never run out. What makes this bath different from other essential oil baths is the mustard seed powder. The warmth of the mustard helps the pores open and therefore eliminate better. After finishing their bath, my family member will then go straight to bed to ensure they get plenty of sleep to recover faster.
Next on my list: Natural Health Fruit Anthocyanins. This is an organic, dark fruit and berry concentrate designed by Dr. William Mitchell who used it in clinical practice because of its numerous health benefits. Anthocyanins are a class of flavonoids that are potent oxygen radical scavengers. Not only is this product a delicious antioxidant juice but it is also anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-carcinogenic, helps eye health, is neuroprotective, and the list goes on. This is hands down the tastiest health food in my routine and I love taking it every day. If someone asked me what one item I would take forever for my health, this would be it. As I age, this will stay in my routine and will be easier than taking 5 other supplements that are probably less bioavailable. Seriously, don’t sleep on this, it’s tasty and so many naturopathic doctors swear by this concentrate as well!
Present CBD infused sparkling water is what I lovingly call my “mom booze” and it is non-alcoholic. I call it my “mom-booze” jokingly because it’s a drink I often enjoy in the evening that helps me wind down from a busy day and makes me feel calm. Each can is 16 ounces and has 20 mg of USDA organic full spectrum hemp. They even flavor it with organic essence of lemon+lime or blood orange. I know a lot of people are looking for non-alcoholic ways of winding down or relaxing and this is it for me. Pro tip: Pour the drink over ice with a tsp of Dr. Mitchell’s Fruit Anthocyanins and now you’re winning.
OK, now we are going to get into the beauty care products that you are going to love. I am about to share with you my secrets and I hope you get as hooked as I did when I first started using these.
Keys products are so amazing, and I ignored these for a long time before I gave them a chance. The packaging isn’t like other beauty care products and the lotions smell medicinal. It wasn’t until another Peoples employee started raving about them that I finally made myself get past the medicinal smell and give them a go. Keys Luminos Hydrating Facial Moisturizer is magic. All I can conclude is the special formula of avocado fruit oil, shea butter, carrot seed oil, agave gel, and some essential oils makes a wonderful anti-aging lotion that somehow literally makes your skin glow like it has an Instagram filter. When I first started using this facial lotion, I cut my make-up application down by half because I just didn’t need makeup to look alive. The next amazing Keys product is their Tortuga Super Emollient Lotion. Once again, the smell of their products isn’t like others; it is distinct, but it wears off quickly. This lotion is amazing for dry skin, sensitive skin, or irritated skin. You’re going to want this lotion for the winter months because it has lasting power but isn’t greasy.
Acure is a more commonly known brand, but I hope you’ve tried their Seriously Soothing Blue Tansy Night Oil. This is a product my husband swears by, and he is one of those manly men who washes their face with soap from the shower. I got this product for him 5 years ago and ever since then it has been helping him with dry facial skin, especially the skin under his beard. I notice it also helps reduce redness and inflammation he also experiences.
EZ Herbs Queen of Hungary Water is my newest obsession. I spray this on my face every morning when I get out of the shower before I use my spf lotion. I feel like a queen when I use this because the smell is insanely good – very similar to a tincture or potent cup of tea. It adds moisture to your skin and helps with scarring. I like to use EZ Herbs Rosewater spray in the evening after I wash my face and before I use serum and night cream. Either spray can be used any time of day, but this is the ritual I love.
