Skin brushing stimulates the lymphatic system and helps to calm the nervous system. Brushing is best performed daily on dry skin, prior to showering.
Supplies: hard natural bristle brush
Time: 3-7 minutes
Instructions:
LEGS
Begin by brushing your armpits and groin for 5-7 circular strokes.
Starting with your feet, brush your toes, feet, tops and soles of feet.
Continue with long strokes up the circumference of your calf. 5-7 brushes.
Circular strokes around your knees. 5-7 circles.
Long brushes up your thigh. 5-7 strokes.
Circular strokes along your hips and buttocks. 5-7 strokes.
ARMS
Move to your hands and wrists. Brush towards your torso. 5-7 strokes.
Continue up your forearms. 5-7 long brushes.
Circular strokes along elbows. 5-7 brushes.
Upper arm. 5-7 long strokes.
Shoulder. 5-7 circular strokes.
ABDOMEN AND BACK
Brush your abdomen in circular strokes. Move up the right side, across the top, down the left side, and across the lower abdomen.
NECK AND CHEST
Brush from the base of your head down your neck toward your heart.
Brush remaining skin of chest towards heart. Women should avoid breast and nipples.
General guidelines: Brush towards your heart. Use long strokes on long bones and circular strokes on joints.
