Dirty Electricity: A Talk with Laura Pressley on Smart Meters

08/02/2013 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Have you noticed the increase in the roll out of electric utility smart meters on our homes and the installation of increased numbers of cell towers within our neighborhoods?  These technologies are useful in many ways, yet they impose very high power density levels of pulsed RF and microwave radiation that can cause health issues.  Here is a link to a recent review of peer reviewed scientific articles published from 1990 – 2012 on the various health effects.

I’ll be giving a talk at Brave New Books, 1904 Guadalupe, this Friday at 7pm to discuss how the radiation levels of Austin have been ratcheted up with the expanded use of pulsed automated smart meters on our homes, the installation of more and more RF and microwave cell towers inside our neighborhoods, and the resulting health effects and power densities these various wireless technologies impose on our bodies.

What can you do to help? Austin Energy is proposing several new programs to the Austin City Council that range from spending $60M in new tax payer dollars expanding our smart meter infrastructure to implementing a Smart Meter Opt Out Program.

Soon, the Austin City Council will be voting on these new initiatives and we need all our voices to be heard at City Hall. Come to Brave New Books this Friday at 7pm to learn how we can Opt Out of the smart meters and how we can minimize our exposure to these pulsed radiation sources.
