Consumed

Here are some news-worthy items on our radar right now:

  • The American Medical Association is calling for the ban of drug ads from television. “We want to spend our time diagnosing and treating patients, not rebutting marketing claims,” [said] Michael Miller, a delegate of the Wisconsin Medical Society. You can sign the petition here.
  • CONSUMED, a thriller/drama about genetically modified foods (and featuring actors like Danny Glover and Victor Garbor), is coming to Austin! The screening is Wednesday, December 9 at 7:30PM. Get tickets here. Can’t make the show? Listen to our live interview with the film’s director/producer, Daryl Wein on our Let’s Get Healthy radio program coming up Monday, Dec. 5th at 5pm on 1370 AM. (Shows air 5-7pm, CST each Monday; later archived here.)
  • According to the Environmental Working Group, “Big Food’s allies in Congress are doing everything they can to implement their anti-labeling agenda before the end of the year – including sneaking the main components of the DARK Act into the end-of-year spending bill!” That means voters have until the end of the month to affect change.
  • In a monumental move, the city of San Marcos, TX has ceased adding fluoride to its water.
